Google Photos gets refreshed navigation drawer, new account switcher
Photos trades the Google+ era account switcher for a new Material Design fashion
Google is pushing a small blueprint tweak for the Photos app'south navigation drawer, including a more meaty account switcher.
The tweak started rolling out over the weekend. At first, it appears nothing meaning has changed, just at that place'due south more than meets the eye.
First upwards, Google got rid of the encompass photo-manner business relationship switcher — a agree out from the recently close down Google+ — and replaced it with a simpler option.
At present, when you slide open the navigation bar, the business relationship switcher is a small section with your Google business relationship photo, name and email address. It also shows the contour pictures of your other Google accounts signed in on your device.
If you tap the pocket-sized arrow next to your name, the section expands and so you can quickly switch to other accounts, manage your accounts or cull to use Photos without an account.
Further, Google has slightly reorganized the menu. All the options and icons are smaller than before, and Google got rid of the dividing lines. 'Photo books,' 'Device folders,' 'Archive,' 'Bin' (formerly 'Trash') and 'Complimentary up space' still take upwards the top five slots. Settings rose upwards the menu and sits below Costless up space now.
Finally, there'south a new 'Google Apps' section, including a link to download the company'south 'PhotoScan' app.
Equally per usual with modest visual tweaks like this, the change appears to come from a server-side update. The new expect was present on a OnePlut 6T running Android Pie and a Pixel 2 XL on the Q beta here at MobileSyrup. Your mileage may vary.
