How do I completely delete video from the memory card? Have HX9V

How exercise I completely delete video from the retention carte du jour? Accept HX9V
Subsequently shooting video with the camera, I sometimes put the memory card into my computer to transfer the files, then I want to delete the videos. I've tried deleting the files in Private/AVCHD/BDMV and and then deleting the contents from the 3 folders CLIPINF, PLAYLIST, and STREAM. However, when I turn on my camera, the thumbnail images of the videos are all the same there only now they're locked and the photographic camera won't let me get rid of them.
Can someone please tell me how I tin delete video off the retentiveness card and so nothing shows upward on my camera?

With the card in the photographic camera:
Menu> toolbox (bottom of list)
Then third tab downwardly (looking on left side) "Memory Card Tool"
Format > OK

That will complely erase everything from the card.
Its good to do this occasionally considering repeated deleting of files tin corrupt the memory card.

Interesting .... I've had that same experience with the SONY HX100V .... the movie thumbnails get left behind ..... but I still accept the ability to "Delete this Image" and it does.
Since it won't allow you .... an in photographic camera format is your best choice as has been mentioned.

Formatting the card is the proper thing. It should exist done every time you lot download the images off the camera.

Reformatting everytime is overkill
Instead of cutting video files from menu do a copy instead.
Then reinsert bill of fare into cam and do a view style in cam and delete videos from at that place.

I had the same issues and found it was easiest to just re-create from the card and delete them from within the camera carte afterward.
I eventually stopped using AVCHD altogether and only use MP4 at present. No such troubles with MP4.

You shouldn't accept to format an sd chip afterwards each use and you should be able to practise many hundreds of thousands of deletes earlier nearing flash lifetimes.
I've been writing figurer programs for almost 50 years and I know a bug when I see i. Not everyone has experienced this particular problem. But when this issues occurs, the hx'southward firmware prevents the proper deleting of a avchd video clip and the but manner to articulate it is to format the sd chip.
John NA87 switched to mp4 just as I did. If y'all're ok with mp4, this code rail doesn't appear to have any bugs in it.

Really I have an hx100, only I believe the firmware controlling file management would exist the same as the hx9'due south.

When you delete a file while photographic camera is continued to computer it deletes the video simply leaves the thumbnail. This is considering all cameras use a proprietary folder heirarchy that the computer does not know nigh.
It is all-time to delete files using the camera carte du jour delete.
Formating is good to do one time in a while. It does not have to be done every time yous want to clear the files out. It simply erases everyting and and so re-writes the file system on the card.
Its aught to do with liftetime read/writes.

I know all this (did I mention the 50 yr thing). I too know that from a coders point of view, it is easily foreseeable and hands corrected.
When the coders would create inter-related data structures I always insisted that they -- the programers, not the users -- must always maintain structural integrity, especially when a user -- your customer and boss -- performs whatsoever normal and reasonable actions.
This really is very piece of cake to fix. I promise someone at Sony is watching.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I was wondering if anyone has actually found a solution to this? (other than formatting the carte du jour or manually deleting from the camera's menu)
The thumbnail images MUST be stored somewhere on the memory carte, just I can't seem to observe any files that match upwardly... just curious if anyone has gone to the problem to find them via trial and error, or happens to understand the folder structure a bit more than I.
